Winifred Hebdon Hancey Ziegler

Hooper – Winifred Hancey Ziegler, Our Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great-Great Grandmother, Sister and friend, passed away peacefully in the home of her loving daughter, Monday, the 16th day of March 2009. Winnie was born on April 1, 1915 in Kemmerer, Wyoming, a daughter of Fred and Mary Hebdon Hancey.
She married Herbert William Ziegler on September 10, 1934 and was later sealed for time and for all eternity in the Logan Temple. Together they had six beautiful children. Their posterity continues on with 27 grandchildren, 82 great grandchildren and 54 great-great grandchildren. Grandma Winnie had a way with words and loved to write stories and poetry. She made every one laugh and was known for her witty sense of humor. She loved to dance and spend time with friends and family. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was an active and faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Winnie and Herb served a mission in Albany, Oregon. Winnie is survived by five daughters and one son; Marylou Sandy Kay, Donna Burt Isaacson, Roberta Glen Griffeth, Judy Ray Jensen, Tom Barbara Ziegler, Brenda Kevin Brown.
Winnie is preceded in death by her sweetheart Herd Ziegler, sister, Lou Winegar, and two grandsons, one granddaughter and two great grandchildren.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to IHC Hospice Tammie, Sandy and Mike and all the others for the kind and loving care they gave Grandma.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a. m Saturday, March 21, 2009 at the old Smithfield 4th Ward Chapel, 179 North 100 East. Friends and family may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
