William Burke Rich

SMITHFIELD ? William Burke Rich, 79 of Smithfield, passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004 at his home.
He was born November 19, 1924 in Smithfield, the sixth son of Samantha Ann Rich and John Pond Rich. He served in the U.S. Navy as a submarine radioman in World War II.
He married Annie Selena Hammon on June 17, 1949, together they raised six children. He worked for Utah State University for 37 years, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by his children; John H Rich Joni of Evanston, WY; Ann Rich of Smithfield, UT; Marilyn Rich of Bend, OR; Elaine Womack Chad of Franklin, ID; Sally Pitcher Tom of Hurricane, Ut, Maxine Christensen Dave of Roy, Ut. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and two brothers; Wayne Rich of Nampa, ID and Homer Rich of Smithfield. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Marlen Rich, Dean Rich, Max Rich and an infant son, Daniel Burke Rich.
Graveside services will be held Friday, April 16, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in the Smithfield City Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and on Friday from 11:30 to 12:30 p.m. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
