William Burley McCulley

June 13, 1925 — March 22, 2006

Garland ? William McCulley, 80, passed away at his home in Garland, Utah March 22. He was born in Memphis Tenessee, moved to Arkansas where he attended school and joined the Navy at age 17. William served for 11 years during which time he fought in WWII and the Korean War. He married Shelba Lea McCulley on Dec 2, 1948 in Benton, Arkansas, and was later sealed in the temple. He moved to Utah in 1961, and went to work for Thiokol as a security guard and a fireman. He also worked for Don?s Furniture, along with his fishing buddy Don Gibson. Shelba died April 4, 1991, and he married Verda Peterson on August 2, 1992 in Garland. William and Verda served faithfully at the temple. Willie loved the outdoors, and was an avid fisherman. He loved to travel. Willie was a prankster and loved to tease and he had a great sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Verda McCulley; Children Howard C. Linda McCulley of Scott, Arkansas, Burley Hue McCulley of Brigham City, Iris June Tracy Nielsen of Logan, and John Ivan McCulley of Brigham City. Eight grandchildren, five Great grandchildren. Step children Gerald Cathy Peterson of Ogden, Sharon Mike Mounts, Gibson City, Illinois, Susan Bill Villeneuve, Garland. 16 Step Grandchildren, 35 Step Great Grandchildren and One Step Great Great Grandchild. One brother Clyde Sue McCulley of New York. Sisters:Lucille Lovell of Kinsey, TN, Mary Wilbert Page, Maulmale, AR, Sue Marvin Sloan, Pratt, KS.
William was preceded in death by his parents, Wife, Shelba Lea McCulley, brother George Sidney McCulley, Grandchild Anthony Childress, one Great Great Grandchild Isabelle Smith. Funeral services will be held Tuesday March 28th, at 11:00 am at the Garland 3rd and 4th Ward chapel located at 175 South Main. There will be a viewing Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Rogers and Taylor, located at 111 North 100 East, and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 at the church in Garland. Interment will be at the Plymouth Cemetery.
