William Swainston Dursteler

Our beloved father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather, William Swainston Dursteler, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 9, 2011. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Donna Dursteler of 64 years. Survived by two sisters, Barbara Winward and Faelm Gill; three children, William H. Dursteler, son; Devra Lopez, daughter, Betty Jo Black, daughter; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren. William Swainston Dursteler was born on March 8, 1922 to Arnold Dursteler and Ethel Swainston, also deceased. He was married to Donna Hansen in the Logan Temple on September 8, 1942.
He retired from the United States Air Force after a successful thirty-year career as a Lt. Col. A devoted military officer, he flew combat missions in Korea and served in the Vietnam War. He was an avid golfer with five "hole-in-one's". He will be remembered and missed by all those who love him and knew him.
Graveside services will be held for the immediate family at Whitney, Idaho Cemetery on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at 12 noon. Services are under the direction of Nelson Funeral Home. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
