LOGAN ? William Herbert Bartlett, 98, died Saturday, March 16, 2002 at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 1, 1903 in Laurel Hill, Tennessee to Sylvanus Wales and Teressa Hoggard Bartlett. In 1908 the family moved from Tennessee to Lindon, Utah then in 1913 they moved to Burley, Idaho. He graduated from Burley High School in 1924 and graduated from Utah Agricultural College in 1928 in Special Arts. From June 1928 to July 1929 he attended the California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco, California. He was hired as an Art Supervisor for Jordan School District and remained there for 43 years. He taught art to educators at summer schools at USU, BYU and U of U. He married Nola VanDam in the Logan L.D.S. Temple on July 27, 1932. She died September 9, 1949. He was active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as Bishop, High Counselor, Young Mens President, Sunday School Superintendent and Scout Commissioner as well as many other callings. He moved to North Logan in 1970 and lived in Williamsburg Retirement Inn from 1990 to 2001. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, baby son and brother, Hobart J. Bartlett. He is survived by a sister, Zelda B. Elmo Packer of Logan and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 19, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan. Friends may call one hour prior to services.
