William Roy Anderson

September 9, 1924 — April 4, 2008

Thatcher, UT - William Roy Anderson, 83, having successfully conquered the challenges of this earthly sojourn, moved on to the next step of his eternal progression having fought a valiant battle with Cancer Friday, April 4, 2008
A devout family man and husband, was born to parents Roy C. and Rosella Davis Anderson September 9, 1924 in Thatcher, Utah. A graduate of Bear River High School, he married the love of his life and eternal companion, Lola Ruth Thompson in the Logan LDS Temple May 15, 1947.
He proudly served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. An active member until his death of American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars. No one was more patriotic and loving of his country.
He retired as an Engineer after 29 years at Thiokol Chem. Corp.
He enjoyed farming, but most importantly his summer home in the Palisades. He was remembered by his friends and neighbors for his ability to make fantastic pies and by his family for his legendary breakfasts while at his cabin. He loved to read and always had a book by his side.
Among family and nation, his religion was one of the main stays of his life. He was a member of the LDS Church serving as a High Priest, Elders Quorum Presidency, Young Men Presidency, Bishopric and Ward Chorister.
Surviving are his wife, Lola Ruth; five children: Kathie Lynn Shaffer, Weston, ID, Dean Mary Lee Anderson, Tremonton, UT, Roger Sherry Anderson, Pleasant View, UT, Ruth Ann Rex Porter, Ogden, UT and Jim Kristy Anderson, Logan, UT; sisters: Bernice Andersen, Tremonton, UT and LuDean Williams, Willard, UT; brother, Dr. Alma D. Anderson, Salt Lake City, UT; 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death are his parents, brother, Kenneth A. Anderson and grandson, Chad Lynn Shaffer.
We love you Dad and we miss you. Your influence will live on forever.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to all the Doctors, Nurses and Hospice Staff for the loving care provided.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the Thatcher-Penrose LDS Chapel, 11475 West 10400 North, Thatcher. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and 9:30-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at the Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.
