Wilbur Park Cooper, 79, 24 Layton Circle, Layton, Utah died Sunday, April 6, 2008, in the Davis Hospital, where he had been a patient only a few days, suffering from major health complications He was born September 13, 1928 in College Corner, Union County, IN, one of seven children of Park and Florence Cassidy Cooper. He first married Marjorie Chalfont of College Corner, IN, and was later divorced. On August 16, 1969, he married Willia Harmm Cloyd of Rockcastle County, KY, while they both lived in College Corner, Preble County, OH. They divorced in 1988. He helped raise her four children. He served his country in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War. He worked various jobs, mostly in retail and drug store management in the Chicago area, and also owned and operated his own restaurant in College Corner. He and his family moved to Davis County, Utah in 1981, and he resided there until the time of his death. Survivors include one step-daughter, Mrs. Nolan Donna Squires of Logan; three step-sons, Timothy Cloyd, of Clearfield, David Cloyd, of Layton, and Troy Sharan Cloyd, of North Ogden; one brother, Mac Cooper, of Oxford, OH; eight step-grandchildren: Stephanie Cloyd of Mountain Green, Timothy Cloyd, Jr., of Clearfield, Heather and Jeremy Cloyd, both of Layton, Lindsay and McKenzie Cloyd, both of Ogden, Mikaela Cloyd of North Ogden, and Morgun Lowry son of Donna Squires, of Spring Creek, NV. All of his step-grandchildren affectionately called him "Grandpa Candy." He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; two sisters, Marie Cooper Pressler and Mildred Cooper Bell; and three brothers, Jesse, Harold, and Earl Cooper. Funeral services will be conducted in College Corner, IN at the Blackwell-Showalter Funeral Home. A viewing will be held at the Nelson Funeral Home at 162 East 400 North in Logan, Utah on Wednesday, April 9 from 6 to 8 p.m., where friends may call. Burial will be in the College Corner Cemetery in College Corner, IN.
