Wayne Richard Luzzader

January 17, 1947 — July 11, 2014

Hyde Park – On July 11th, Wayne Luzzader unexpectedly passed away from natural causes at his home. Wayne was born January 17th, 1947 in Ithaca, New York to Helen and Joseph Luzzader. He graduated from Trumansburg High School where he was active in varsity baseball, basketball and football and also served in several class presidencies. Growing up near the world famous racetrack Watkins Glen, Wayne developed a love for cars and racing. This interest would later lead him to racing motorcycles in sprint and endurance events. He was also the team manager for a Corvette racing team. Wayne continued his love for motor sports in recent years by participating in rallycross and attending races and car shows with his family.
From an early age, Wayne was fascinated with anything mechanical or electronic which aided entrepreneurial pursuits throughout his lifetime. He developed several products for the medical and environmental industry, including a device to take inventory readings for underground storage tanks to detect leaks. Wayne has multiple patents under his name. Wayne attended school at the Tompkins County Community College and also Cornell University. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Brigham Young University and a Master of Business Administration from Utah State University. Starting in his youth, Wayne was active in Scouting. As a young man, he became an assistant scout master at Camp Barton. Wayne continued to volunteer in Scouting throughout his life and cherished the boys he taught. Many considered Wayne an honorary member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and he volunteered his time and talents in various callings including Scouting, primary, nursery, and activity committees.
Wayne met Cherry, the love of his life, on a blind date. They were married for forty-five years and raised their family of five children in New York and Utah. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports and artistic endeavors. At the time of his passing, Wayne worked with Cherry as a Realtor at Century 21 N&N Real Estate while continuing his entrepreneurial ventures.
Wayne loved to travel with his family; some of his favorite places included New York, Alaska, Arizona, and Florida. Whenever the family played trivial pursuit, everyone wanted him on their team because they'd be guaranteed to win. Wayne was an avid reader and had a well-rounded wealth of knowledge. Wayne will be remembered most for his generosity, kindness, enthusiasm for life, and determination. He was a friend to all.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Cherry, daughters, Rachel Joseph, Rebekah Bret, sons, Reid, Ryan, and Ross Amanda, grandchildren, Bailey, Berkeley, Hunter, Cassidy, Samuel, Gage, Cooper, Hudson, and Dawson, and brothers, Doug and Jere. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Mike.
