Bear River City, UT - Warren Gordon Holmgren, 88 of Bear River City, died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Bear River Valley Hospital. He was born December 6, 1920, the son of David Carl and Hilda Marie Nelson Holmgren.
Warren was reared and educated in the Bear River Valley. He grew up in Tremonton. He and his family lived at and owned and operated the Midland Hotel. After graduating from Bear River High School, Warren attended Utah State Agricultural College. He was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, in the 36th Coast Artillery Battalion. He was a long-time resident of Bear River City and worked as a farmer and rancher. Warren had a charitable heart and contributed to many different organizations. He was a voracious artist and a history buff. He had a thirst for knowledge right to the end of his life.
He was a member of Bear River Second Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Warren is survived by one brother, Lyle Everet Holmgren and one sister, Phyllis Holmgren Wood.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Daryl Field Holmgren, Wayne David Holmgren; sisters: Floy Evelyn Holmgren, Winifred Johanna Holmgren Stoddard, Ethel Olive Holmgren Stanger and DeEsta Hilda Holmgren Sampson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, November 19, 2009 11:00 a.m. in the Bear River City Ward Chapel, 5870 North 4700 West, Bear River City with Bishop Jeff Jones, officiating. A viewing will be held Wednesday, November 18, 2009 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Thursday at the church, from 9:30-10:40 a.m. Interment will follow at the Bear River City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans of Box Elder County.
