Walter "Kay" Scholes
Walter Keveren "Kay" Scholes passed away peacefully with some of his family by his side on the 14th of July. He was born on the 3rd of November 1919 in Salt Lake City. He grew up in River Heights and attended Cache County Schools, finishing the last two years of High School in Rigby Idaho. He served in World War II. Kay met Marjorie Weeks while attending Utah State Agricultural College. They married in the Logan Temple. During his life he spent many years influencing many young men in Cub and Boy Scouts. He donated time and talents with carpentry. He served in many other callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including High Priests Group Leadership, Genealogy and serving Widows. One of his greatest joys was serving in the Logan Temple. He enjoyed gardening. He made friends wherever he went. He is survived by his wife of 64 years. He is also survived by Alan Linda of Murray, Sidney Carol of Roosevelt, Marjorie K Blair Packer, 21 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, two sisters, a sister in law and brother in law. Special thanks to those who helped with his care over the recent years.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 12 Noon, in the Smithfield 1st Ward Chapel, 79 East 200 South. A viewing will be held on Thursday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main Street in Smithfield and at the church on Friday from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior to services.
