Vivian Harper Hunter Byington

Vivian Harper Hunter Byington, 84, passed away Thursday, April 8, 2004 at the Terrace Grove Assisted Living Center in Logan. She was born June 11, 1919 in Victor, Idaho to John Holding and Florence Mabel Bircher Harper. She was raised in Teton Valley and attended Driggs Elementary School and graduated from Teton High School. She attended the LDS Business College in Salt Lake City for a year before going to work at the Triple A office in Driggs. She met James A. Hunter and they were married July 22, 1941 and later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. They had three children: John Larry, William James and Barbara Jane. Making their home in Driggs, they owned and operated the Economy Cash Grocery Store. They later sold the store and purchased Valley Farm Supply which she ran until 1981, when she sold it to her son. After selling the store, she was devoted to helping take care of her aging mother. She married Freeman J. Byington on July 10, 1991 in Logan, Utah. They enjoyed their lives together, spending time between their homes in Mesa, Arizona and Logan, Utah. They enjoyed traveling and working together in the Mesa and Logan LDS Temples. Vivian loved to go fishing, especially ice fishing on Jackson Lake. She was a member of the LDS Church and had a deep love of the Lord. She had a great love of family and was very proud of all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her three children and their spouses: John Larry Renee; William James Sandee; Barbara Jane Rick Ward; 21 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. She is also survived by three step-children and their spouses: Carol David Johnson; Judy Fred Weindorf; Neal Suzanne Byington; 17 step-grandchildren and 20 step-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, her husband James in 1975 and Freeman on February 22, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, April 12, 2004 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah with Lyndon Paulsen of the Logan 9th Ward officiating. Friends and family may call one hour prior to services. A graveside service will be held at the Driggs Idaho Cemetery at 5:00 p.m. on the same day.
