Bear River City-Vita Rasmussen Burt passed away peacefully in her home under the watchful care of her family May 17, 2011. Vita was born June 10, 1929 to James Peter and Esther Wheatley Rasmussen in Honeyville, Utah. She married Clinton Wight Burt June 21, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. They are the parents of six children: Jack Cindy Burt, Kelly Burt deceased, Sheila Tingey, Christine Dwight Bingham, Michael Burt deceased, James Chad Burt deceased, Douglas Amy Burt, 18 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Vita raised her family along with Clinton on the family farm in Bear River City. She worked as a custodian at the Bear River Middle School for eight years and planted and cared for the flowers around the school. She also drove the Blue Goose into Brigham City for 2 years. Vita lived a full life and was known for her beautiful quilts, flowers and her delicious pies. Her many acts of service and kindness made everyone feel welcome in her home. She diligently served in all of the auxillaries of the church. She also was active in Farm Bureau and Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. She also pieced and quilted the Farm Bureau "Quilt of the Counties" for 20 years.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, her children and one sister, Beth Hamilton.
She was preceded in death by three sons Kelly, Mike and Jimmy; three sisters Ruth Roy Alvis, Ruby Elwood Morgan, Rula Newell Checketts, 1 brother Devern Cora Rasmussen and one Granddaughter Jami Lyn Burt. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 23, 2011, 12:00 noon at the Bear River LDS Chapel, 5870 North 4700 West, Bear River City. Friends may call Sunday, May 22, 2011, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Bear River LDS Chapel and Monday from 10:00-11:40 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral services. Interment will follow in the Bear River City Cemetery.
