Virginia Ann Thackeray Brough, 80, passed away at legacy House Assisted Living of Logan returning to her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, after a valiant struggle with Alzheimer Disease. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt.
Virginia was born July 5, 1931, in Ogden, Utah to Mark and Alta Calvert Thackeray. She grew up in Croydon, Utah. Virginia graduated from Morgan High School and went on to attend Utah State Agricultural College now USU. Later while working at the Church Office Building in Salt Lake City, Virginia met Morris D. Brough. They were married June 6, 1954, sealed together as eternal companions in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Virginia was very supportive of her husband, Morris, as he finished his teaching degree at USU and went with him wherever a good teaching job was offered. These places included Ogden, and Logan, Utah; Carlin, Nevada; Farson, Wyoming; Lakeview Oregon; Sequim, Washington; Preston, Idaho; and finally settling in Smithfield, Utah; where they retired.
Virginia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in various church callings. Her love for children made Primary her favorite place to serve. She was a great example of kindness and charity. Her greatest joy in life was her children. That joy multiplied as she watched her grandchildren grow. Then came the greatest reward of all as she was able to share her love with great-grandchildren!
She is survived by her husband Morris, and five children, Julia Griggs, of Pocatello, Idaho, Brenda Danny Kauer, of Rexburg, Idaho, Sandra Bob Petroff of Richmond, Utah, Lana Mike Hansen of Smithfield, Utah and Michael Regina Brough. She was preceded in death by a son Morris Mark Brough, Her parents, her two brothers and spouses Richard Dot Thackeray and Douglas Melba Thackeray, son-in-law David Griggs, and two grandchildren Cindy Kauer and Jason Petroff.
The family would like to thank all the nurses, aides and caregivers at the Legacy House of Logan for their love and respectful care of Virginia. We would also like to thank Access and Hospice for the thoughtful loving care given to her.
