Virginia Smith Beal 1910 ~2006 WOODINVILLE, WA - Virginia Smith Beal, age 96, died November 9, 2006 in her home in Woodinville, WA. Virginia was born May 10, 1910 in Fielding, UT to Joseph H. and Bertha Lenora Jensen Smith, the third of eight children. She graduated from Bear River High School and earned a teaching certificate from the University of Utah. Virginia taught elementary school for many years in Salt Lake City School District. On December 29, 1937 she married George Max Beal in the Logan Temple. They had three sons, Robert Max Beal, Richard Smith Beal deceased in 1984, and George Max Beal II. Virginia and Max lived in College Park, MD for 30 years where Max was a Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Maryland. Max died in 1976. Virginia and her whole family had many growing and learning experiences while accompanying Max on sabbatical leaves abroad. Max received a Fulbright Scholarship to Athens, Greece for the year of 1955-56 and another to Oslo, Norway in 1963-64. Virginia held numerous positions in the LDS Church in College Park, Maryland and in Woodinville, WA and served for many years as a temple ordinance worker in both the Washington D.C. and Seattle Temples. She was active for several years on the National Organization of American Mothers. She moved to Woodinville in 1992. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. Virginia is survived by a sister, Beth Smith Foxley Iverson Lynn, of St. George, UT; a brother, Grant Gill Smith Julia of Logan, UT; her sons, Robert Max Beal Kay of Farmington, UT, George Max Beal II Carole of Woodinville, WA; daughter-in-law, Richard's wife, Ruth Sorensen Beal of Oak Hill, VA; 14 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 12 noon November 13, 2006 in the Woodinville Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 16500 124th Ave NE. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m.-12 noon. She will be buried next to Max in the community of her birth, Fielding, UT at 2 p.m. November 15, 2006.
