Tremonton, Utah ? Virgil Calvin Waldron, 91, passed away Monday, October 9, 2006. He was born September 6, 1915 in Morgan, Utah to Walter Calvin and Mary Hazel Watt Waldron. He married Margaret Kay February 14, 1941 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was reared in Thatcher, attended Thatcher and Bothwell Elementary Schools, graduated from Bear River High School, LDS Seminary and from Utah State Agricultural College majoring in Education. Virgil began his teaching career in 1937 in Clear Creek, Utah teaching in Stanrod, Fielding, Elwood, Garland, and McKinley Schools and was principal of the Elwood School. During his 43 years of teaching in Box Elder County, he served as secretary and president of the Elementary Principals Association; was a member of NEA, UEA, BEEA; served as secretary and national convention delegate to NEA; and was listed as an Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America. He owned and operated a farm in East Tremonton since 1941.
He was a member of the Tremonton Second LDS Ward, serving as a teacher in the Sunday School and YMMIA, Sunday School Stake Board, Ward Clerk, Assistant Stake Clerk, Stake Clerk, Stake High Counselor and High Priest Group Leader. He and Margaret served from 1986-1987 in the Florida Tallahasse Mission. He was a sealer in the Logan LDS Temple.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years and three children: Kaye Firth, Tremonton, Utah; Mary Ellen and Clyde Summers, Deweyville, Utah; Craig and Debbie Waldron, Tremonton, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; siblings: Verle and Joan Waldron and Mabel and Dean Showell, Tremonton, Utah; Della Ure, Oregon; Beth Waite, Layton, Utah; brother-in-law, Lee W. Hunsaker, Elwood, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Faye Watkins and Arlene Hunsaker; son-in-law, Boyd P Firth and a great grandson, Matthew Summers.
Family and friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2006 and Saturday, October 14 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Funeral services will be Saturday, October 14, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Tremonton Second Ward Church, 300 South Tremont St., Tremonton. Interment at Bothwell Valley View Cemetery.
