Viola Marie Miller, 92, passed away Saturday, Sep. 13, 2008, at the Logan Nursing and Rehab. Center. She was born Sep. 25, 1915, in Lostine, OR, the 5th of 14 children, to George W. and Grace Ethel Edwards Stonebrink. At age 5, Viola and her family moved from Oregon to New Mexico. She graduated from Clayton HS in 1934.
In 1935 the Stonebrinks moved from New Mexico to Colorado and Viola attended beauty school in Denver, CO, passing her board exams in Aug. 1937.
Later, on a cattle ranch near Kremmling, CO, Viola met Maurice LeRoy Miller. They were married Aug. 6, 1942 in Steamboat Springs, CO.
After WWII, they bought a ranch near Steamboat Springs, CO. and started their family. 10 years later, they sold the ranch and moved to town with their 3 boys. It was at this time that Viola, Maury and the boys were converted and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Aug. 3, 1957. The family was sealed in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on June 14, 1963 for time and all eternity.
Mom, we will fondly remember your twinkling eyes, beautiful smile and infectious laugh. You helped us develop an appreciation for the beauty of nature and music, good home cooking, abundant gardening and contentedly living within our means. We love you and will miss your companionship.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; her sisters, Gladys, Lulu and Frances; her brothers, Clarence, Elwood, Clyde, Scott, Harold, and Roy.
She is survived by her sons, Gary Candy of Arlington, WA; Gerry of Howard, CO; and Gregg Kathy of Stockbridge, MI; her brothers, Earl Nancy Stonebrink of Newberg, OR and Berle Peg Stonebrink of Washougal, WA; her sisters, Nina Oresto Borroz of Vancouver, WA and Geneva Hodges of Newberg, OR; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
