She attended the University of Missouri but her education was interrupted when she meet and fell in love with a dark haired college student named Jasper Trimble whom she married in 1933 in Jefferson City, M0. Verda put herself through business school by teaching beginning typing so she could be her husband?s secretary and bookkeeper in his business pursuits of life insurance, mutual funds, and real estate development. She continued taking shorthand and typing letters for Jasper well into her nineties. Verda set a wonderful example as a faithful, caring and supportive wife. For many years she drove Jasper around Missouri while he made sales and followed up clients. She also provided companionship for Dad with his various recreational activities of golf, fishing, quail and pheasant hunting. For the last six years of their marriage she gave full time in caring companionship for Jasper helping him make significance recovery from two strokes. Verda?s personal faith in Jesus Christ was of central importance to her. She committed her life to Jesus Christ during a Methodist revival as a teenager. In 1933 she joined First Baptist Church of Jefferson City, Missouri where she developed many lifelong friendships and remained a member until her death. She spoke of her faith openly to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and during the last three months of her life in the hospital and rehabilitation facility, with nurses and aids. To her family she will always be remembered as a caring, uncomplaining, and generous person whose life was characterized by thinking of others before herself. Mom will be deeply missed but her memory will always be cherished in our hearts. We know, because of Jesus Christ who is the resurrection and the life, that we will see she and Dad again. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to the excellent physical therapists, and all the compassionate and caring CNAs, nurses, and supervisors at Logan Rehabilitation Center. A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Jefferson City, M0 on Sunday afternoon, April 24, with burial to follow in Memorial Gardens in Colombia, M0.
