Veon Hansen Horman
Smithfield-Mildred “Veon” Hansen Horman, affectionately known as “Viola” peacefully passed on, to the embrace of her husband, Verl, on Dec. 27, 2015. Veon, was born in Twin Falls, Idaho on July 30, 1936 by a “lilac” bush, in the car, while waiting for her dad to finish milking the last cow.
To the delight of her brothers, they exclaimed, “Our dish washing days are over.”
She was the only daughter of Leland Arelian and Bertha Mae Hansen and was affectionately called, “Sis” by her 6 brothers. Her childhood was filled with a home full of love, and hard work on the farm.
After graduating from high school, she attended Ricks College where she met her eternal sweetheart, Verl. They married on June 16, 1958 in the Idaho Falls Temple.
Beloved mother of Lorraine, Dianne, Sharee, Trent, Travis and Todd. They raised their family in Idaho Falls, Idaho, Provo, and then settled in Smithfield, Utah.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and her testimony was shown in her unwavering faith and example.
Mom, was the best example of true, unconditional love, strength, and enduring to the end. She devotedly cared for for her husband, Verl for 19 years after a tragic accident that left him as a quadriplegic, before his passing in 2000.
Her selfless life evolved around the raising of her six kids and caring of her husband. No one has experienced a better example of true love then we witnessed of our mom, while taking care of her soul mate.
Viewing will be Fri., Jan. 1, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Nelson Funeral home in Smithfield. Funeral Services will be held at Smithfield 8th ward at 155 W. 400 N. on Sat. Jan. 2 at 12:00 pm with a viewing from 10:30-11:30 prior to services.
