Venice Hadfield Benson passed away Saturday, July 29, 2006 in Twin Falls, Idaho. Venice was born March 20, 1913, in Logan, Utah to Alice and John G. Hadfield. The family moved to Smithfield in 1914, where Venice resided until her marriage to LaMont Benson of Newton, Utah. They raised three children in Newton where they engaged in farming. In 1947 they moved to Smithfield, Utah. The Bensons divorced in 1972. Venice moved to Carson, California in 1973, where she resided with a sister. She was a member of the Torrence California Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and did her temple work in the Los Angeles Temple. In 1986 Venice moved to St. George, Utah. She became a pink lady at the St. George hospital and was a volunteer at the St. George Historical Museum. She attended the community college for seniors and resumed her temple work in the St. George Temple. In 1994 Venice moved to Salt Lake City and two years later moved back to St. George, where she resided until she moved to Twin Falls in 2001. During her lifetime, Venice traveled extensively, almost always in the company of her brothers and sisters. She also spent time with her daughter Sondra and family in Germany while they were there on assignment with the Air Force. Venice was known for her kindness and caring. Her Patriarchal Blessing talked of the marvelous good she had done for others. Venice is survived by two daughters: Sondra Mont Hill, Filer, Idaho; Susan Scott Liddell, Sandy, Utah; five grandchildren: Jay Gwenna Hill, Richland, Washington; Lynne Chris Holmes, Star, Idaho; Kip Hill, New Plymouth, Idaho; and Laura Curt Thieman, Twin Falls, Idaho; Holly Paul Herman, Chandler, Arizona. Also surviving are seven great grandchildren: Erin and Jared Norton, Star, Idaho; Amanda and Gabe Thieman, Twin Falls, Idaho; Brie Palmer and Sidney and Alisa Herman, Chandler, Arizona. A son, Dee Lamont, preceded her in death. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 4, 2006 at the Smithfield, Utah Cemetery.
