VeLoy Hall Belnap

Veloy Hall Belnap, 76, died Monday, June 21, 2004, at his residence in Garland, following a long and courageous battle with lung cancer. He was born December 7, 1927, in Burton, Idaho. Veloy was the 7th child of George Ellis and Mabel Hall Belnap. He married Marilyn Leda Austin March 17, 1954. On September 20, 2003 their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple. Veloy's early years were enjoyed in the small town of Burton. In the summer of 1933, the family moved to Hooper, Utah. It was here where Veloy grew from boyhood into manhood. He graduated from Weber High School and attended Weber State College. On February 9, 1946, Veloy was inducted into the United States Army. He served at the U.S. Headquarters as part of the occupation forces in Frankfurt, Germany. In August 1947 he was Honorably Discharged. He worked for Utah Power & Light, Bonneville Construction and Bear River Telephone. In October 1956 he started a civil service job at Hill Air Force Base as a telephone technician and completed his career as a communications program manager, retiring October 3, 1990. He was active in his community serving in numerous volunteer capacities; church assignments; Garland City Council and coaching numerous softball teams. He was a High Priest in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Veloy loved camping, hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow and develop. A particular favorite pastime was playing sports with his family. From his upbringing he had a fondness for music, served on numerous occasions as the ward choir director, enjoy singing solos and with choral groups. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of Garland; his children, Scott Allan Belnap, Garland; Brian Veloy Belnap, Salt Lake City; three grandchildren, Jamie Jean Brady Adams; Jackie Scott Troy Stoudnor; Jeremiah Scott Belnap; two great granddaughters, Mikayla Mary Adams and Trinity J. Stoudnor.
Also surviving are four sisters and three brothers; Thora French, Roberts, Idaho; Vola Charles McDonald, Richmond, Virginia; Iola Murray, West Point, Utah; LeGrande Beverly Belnap, Hooper, Utah; Linden Diana Belnap; Ogden, Utah; Darwin Jean Belnap, Ogden, Utah; Audrey Vaughn Hobson, Heyburn, Idaho; Bud Ann Belnap, Layton, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lowell and Gary and one sister Elma Ross. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2004, 11:00 a.m. at the Garland 3rd and 4th Ward LDS Church, 175 South Main, Garland.
Family will meet friends at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends from 9:30 -10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Garland Cemetery with military honors.
