Vella Thompson Sparks Preece

Clarkston, UT - Heavenly Father called home our dear mother, grandmother and friend on Monday, September 14, 2009 at the Ogden Regional Medical Center. She was born August 23, 1923 in the home up the hollow of their City Creek Ranch in Clarkston, Utah. She was the tenth child of John Crompton and Anna Elizabeth Olsen Thompson. She married Gleneth Sparks in Preston, Idaho September 21, 1942. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan Temple April 24, 1964. They made their home in Clarkston. She was employed as a Secretary at Ogden Second Street, plucked turkeys at plants in Trenton and Tremonton, and as a laborer at Cache Valley Dairy until she was forced to retire due to a back injury. She was a member of the LDS Church where she held many callings. She had a strong testimony and loved the Lord. After Gleneth passed away, she married Myron Francis Preece on October 10, 1996 in Logan, Utah. Vella is survived by her children, Darlene J.M. ?Butch? Hess and Dorothy ?Dot? Dave Conger of Tremonton and Kim G. Jane Sparks of Clarkston, eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren, brother-in-law Orlando ?Dick? Eileen Preece, sister-in-law Teresa Jackson, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband?s Gleneth and Myron, great-granddaughter Taylie Lynn Conger, parents and brothers and sisters Esther, Gladys, Mary, Ethel, Erma, Whilhelmina, Fred, Victor and Clayton, and all immediate members of the David and Ella Sparks Family whom she dearly loved. Funeral services will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, September 19, 2009 at Clarkston 2nd Ward with Bishop Tim Goodey conducting. A viewing will be held on this date from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Interment will be at the Clarkston Cemetery under the direction of Rogers and Taylor Mortuary.
