Veda Bunderson Weeks

January 16, 1925 — November 5, 2002

Smithfield ? Veda Bunderson Weeks, 77, wife of David C. Weeks, returned to her heavenly home on November 5, 2002. She passed away peacefully at the Logan Regional Hospital following pain and suffering from her extended illnesses. She was born January 16, 1925 at home in St. Charles, Idaho to her parents, Bert and Almira Findlay Bunderson. She grew up on a farm and was surrounded by many farm animals that she loved and cared for. She attended elementary school in St. Charles and high school in Paris, Idaho. During her school years, she was active in sports, debate, speech and participated in many plays. She was blessed with the talent to give dramatic readings and was highly sought after to perform in community, church and school events. Audiences were particularly delighted when she used a Scottish accent. Veda loved music, playing both the piano and saxophone. She also performed saxophone solos. She continued her education at USAC now USU and continued to share her talents with others. She worked at the college library to help support herself. While working during her senior year, a co-worker suggested that Veda, invite her brother, David to a girl?s choice dance. David had just returned from WWII in the Pacific. After previewing his picture, she decided to do so. This was the beginning of their romance, which led to a marriage in the Logan Temple on June 11, 1948. During their courtship, she earned her BS degree in Speech and English Education and began teaching at North Cache High School. After teaching for a couple of years, Veda and David started their family. Their son, David, was born followed by two daughters, Lani and Coral. Veda was a loving, dedicated mother. Besides her homemaking and mother duties, she worked in family business ventures. She began by helping in the Weeks Dairy and Ice Cream store and milk delivery business for 15 years. Later they owned and operated a Laundromat in Smithfield. After that business was sold, David and Veda bought and managed some apartment properties in Logan. She was actively involved in this until a couple of years ago when her health failed. Veda was very active in the LDS church during her life. She held positions in the Primary, MIA and Sunday School. She helped introduce the church?s Teaching Development Program in the Smithfield Stake. She also taught cultural Refinement lessons for several years in the Relief Society. Members were continually amazed by her vast knowledge of literature and music. She had a firm testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ. She is survived by her husband David C. Weeks and daughters: Mari Lani Weeks Jensen of Kent, Washington and Coral Lei Weeks Lombard of Draper, Utah. Granchildren are: Ryan Weeks, Kayvon Ghaffari, Arman Ghaffari, Kamran Ghaffari, MacKenzie Lombard and ?adopted? grandson Tyler Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers D?Orr and Elzo, and her son David Alan Weeks. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her listening ear, compassionate heart and sense of humor. Veda?s family wishes to thank the many people who assisted her during her illness, especially Nancy Hansen, Char McDonald, Barbara Larsen and Cathy Boyer.
