Beaver Dam, UT - Veda Selman Kidman, 68, passed away June 30, 2008 at home after a long battle with cancer. Veda was born October 12, 1939 to John Harold and Maralda Dorthella Sorensen Selman. She married her high school sweetheart, Garth Maughan Kidman, August 12, 1955 in the Logan LDS Temple. Veda achieved her private pilot's license at the Logan Airport, where she and Garth flew for several years. Garth worked for Utah Power & Light; he and Veda lived at several power plant locations in Utah and Idaho making friends everywhere they went. Veda worked hard to find a spinning wheel and learn the nearly dead arts of spinning and weaving. She visited school classes giving spinning demonstrations. Her other interests included cake decorating, handwork, antiques, and ornamental horticulture; most of all she loved her family. Her last years were spent researching the antique tractors she and Garth loved to collect, and traveling with family. Veda always loved genealogy and spent years learning to use the computer to do family history research. She is survived by her husband; children: Kelly Ann Perry Merrill, deceased, and Dan Harold Kidman Charlene; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers and one sister: Dean Selman Janet, Eva Westwood Gordon, and Fred Selman Laura. She is preceded in death by her beloved son, Curtis Garth Kidman, and sisters, Lois Hall and Iva Selman. The family would like to thank the wonderful family, friends and neighbors for their support and prayers and Inter-Mountain Hospice organization for their support in helping Garth care for Veda. Funeral Services will be held Monday, July 7, 11:00 a.m. at the Beaver Dam LDS Chapel, 16025 North Beaver Dam Rd., Beaver Dam, UT with Bishop Randy Bowcutt officiating. Family and friends may call Sunday, July 6, from 4-6 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and Monday, at the church from 9:30–10:40 a.m. Interment will be at the Beaver Dam Cemetery.
