Vaughan Bert Spackman

Vaughan Bert Spackman returned peacefully to his Heavenly Father on May 29, 2009, surrounded by his family. He was born September 6, 1921 in Richmond, Utah to Brigham and Lillian Catherine Hansen Spackman. He was the fifth of nine children and grew up in Trenton, Utah. He graduated from North Cache High School. Vaughan married Ruth Perry on August 14, 1946, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They made their home in Trenton, Utah and have enjoyed 62 years of married life together. Vaughan was a hard working and successful farmer. Vaughan was a life long member of the LDS church and a High Priest at the time of his death. He and his wife, Ruth, served a mission together in Albuquerque, New Mexico from 1988-1989. He especially enjoyed serving with his wife for many years as an officiator in the Logan Temple. Vaughan was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved being with his family. He was the father of five children, Marie LaRon Larkin, Linda Ruth Robert Gunnell, Deanne Don Cottle, Perry Vaughan Sandy Spackman, Michael Wayne Anne Spackman. Vaughan and Ruth have 23 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Vaughan is survived by his wife Ruth, all of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Harold Albert Spackman and a sister Leona Spackman LaNoy. Vaughan was preceded in death by his father Brigham Spackman, his mother Lillian Hansen Spackman, four brothers, James Brigham Spackman, Don Ellis Spackman, LeRoy Edwin Spackman, and Morland Lorenzo Spackman, and two sisters, Lois Spackman Merrill, and Anna Laura Spackman Anderson. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 Noon on June 3, 2009, at the Trenton/Cornish LDS Ward Chapel 1200 North 400 West, Trenton, Utah. Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on June 3, 2009 at the church prior to services. Interment will be in the Trenton Town Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
