Vaudice Pitcher Boman

August 2, 1912 — January 20, 2007

Vaudice Pitcher Boman, 94, passed away Saturday, January 20, at Logan Regional Hospital surrounded by her family. She was welcomed into the family of John William and Mary Clarissa Thornley Pitcher on August 2, 1912 in Cornish, Utah. She was the tenth of twelve children. Vaudice grew up in Cornish in a large and loving family. She attended Cornish School and graduated from 8th grade as class valedictorian. She rode "the quinney" a train from Cornish to Richmond and graduated from North Cache High School. She married the love of her life, Lewis Robert Boman on January 25, 1933 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were married 3 days short of 71 years when he passed away on January 22, 2004. They lived in Lewiston their entire married life where they farmed and raised a wonderful family of 2 boys and 2 girls: Ronald Rosella Boman serving a mission in Romania, Susan deceased and Rex Zollinger of Bountiful, Sally Keith, deceased Wright of Modesto, California, and Boyd Linda Boman of Lewiston, Utah. She also loved and cared for a nephew, Lonnie Pitcher, who lived with the family for 6 years. She had 17 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren that all loved her dearly. Vaudice served faithfully in many church positions including over 20 years in the ward and stake MIA. She was a Relief Society president, a visiting teacher for more than 60 years, Junior Sunday School coordinator, and single adult advisor. She served in the Rapid City, South Dakota mission with her husband 1975-1977. In 1984, Vaudice and Lewis were set apart as temple officiators. They fulfilled this calling for 8 years. She was member of the Lewiston Literary Club for 69 years. She was known for her charity and service to others as well as for her wonderful cooking. Her rolls were well known and enjoyed by many. No one left her home without being well fed. Anyone going to Lewiston could count on a home cooked meal and they knew they would always be welcome in her home. Her extended family rarely passed through the area without stopping to partake of her warm hospitality. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one sister, Bertha Greaves. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis, her daughter, Susan, her son-in-law, Keith Wright, a grandson, Chad William Boman, a great grandson, Richard William Boman, six brothers, Cyril, Harvey, Decon, Brown, Melvin, and Valden; four sisters, Margaret Petersen, Pheobe Boman, Mozell Boman, and Bessie Last. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff of Legacy House, and the doctors and nurses at Logan Regional Hospital for the loving care given to their mother. Funeral services will be held in the Lewiston 1st and 2nd Ward church, 10 South 1600 West, on Wednesday, January 24, at 12:00 noon. A viewing will be at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield on Tuesday, January 23, from 6 to 8 p.m. And on Wednesday at the church in Lewiston from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Lewiston City Cemetery.
