Una Warner Hobson Grant

March 16, 1934 — November 23, 2024

On Saturday Nov. 23, 2024 Una Warner Grant, 90 was called home to her Heavenly Father. Una was the tenth child of Melvin Orrin Warner and Drusilla Arvilla Prescott Warner Lambert born on March 15, 1934 in Heyburn, Idaho.

While growing up Una had many wonderful experiences living with her older married sisters and helping when a new baby came. She lived in Burley, Declo, and Heglar Idaho, Norwalk California, Wauconda and near Chicago, Illinois attending various High Schools at each place. Her greatest most awesome sight was in Heglar when she saw the Northern Lights, which she said “made a noise like water pouring over ice”.

She graduated from Burley High School in 1952, shortly after that she was called to be a Stake Missionary in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for 2 years. In June 1953 she married David Turner Hobson; they were later sealed in the Idaho Falls temple. They were blessed with 6 children, they were later divorced. In 1977 mom moved her family to Logan, Utah. She met and married Glen Mylar Grant on November 29, 2003 and moved to Salt Lake City where she gained 6 step-children. Glen and mom were later sealed June 1, 2012 in the Salt Lake City Temple. She loved to hear Glen sing, as he was blessed with a wonderful singing voice. They were married 17 ½ years before Glen passed away June 24, 2021.

She enjoyed writing poetry, reading, sewing, making quilts, crocheting, doing puzzles, listening to good music, and collecting stamps and rocks. She has made wedding dresses, lined suits, formal gowns and other clothing for her family and others as an accomplished seamstress.

She had many church callings throughout her life in leadership and teaching in ward and stake level. She served 2 stake missions and 2 extraction missions. At 90 she looked back on her life and realized she survived because of her strong faith in the gospel, it helped her through many hard times. She also found how grateful she was for her family including her siblings, her 6 children and her extended families. She is glad “Families are Forever”. Mom was a compassionate, kind hearted person with such a giving and generous heart, always having a smile and a hello to all she met. Her family will remember her for the” very special hand-picked” birthday cards, she sent without fail to everyone, letting them know she loved them.

She is survived by her children: Sheryl Morland, Roger Hobson, Susan Johnson, John Hobson, Maria Dabb and Rebecca (Becky) VanVoorhees.Step-children Daren Grant, Glenda, Susan Bartholomew, Alan Grant, Pam and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by David T. Hobson, her husband Glen M. Grant and step-son Reed Grant.
