Thelma Rosella Erickson Simmonds

Trenton – Thelma Rosella Erickson Simmonds, 95, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2008 at Logan Regional Hospital due to incidence of age. She was born November 6, 1912 in Fish Haven, Idaho, the daughter of Magnus Erickson Jr. and Rosella McCann Erickson. She married Lloyd Simmonds on January 3, 1933 in Logan, Utah. She was raised and educated in Fish Haven, Idaho and Logan, Utah. She worked as a secretary for Cache Valley Dairy and also worked in the copy center at Utah State University. She was a member of the LDS Church where she held several callings, and was also active in the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. In her younger years, Thelma decorated many beautiful wedding cakes and enjoyed crocheting afghans. She also enjoyed gardening and helping on the family farm. She was blessed with 3 grandsons whom she loved dearly. Many of her happiest years were spent with them hunting and fishing in the river bottoms. She never missed any of the activities or sports events that they took part in. Thelma wrote many beautiful poems and was a very talented painter. She enjoyed sharing her art work with family and friends. She is survived by a son, Jerry C. Simmonds, a daughter-in-law, Lana Simmonds and 3 grandsons: Wesley, William, and Erick. She was preceded in death by one son, Bruce; her husband, Lloyd; 2 brothers and 2 sisters. Thelma was the last leaf on the tree. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Monday, April 28, 2008 in the Trenton-Cornish LDS ward chapel, 1200 North 400 West, Trenton, Utah, with Bishop Robert Smith conducting. Friends and family may call at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Trenton Cemetery. Thelma was a very unique person and will be greatly missed by family and friends.
