Thelma Tidwell Jacobsen

January 2, 1918 — November 27, 2004

Logan, UT ? Thelma Tidwell Jacobsen passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday, November 27, 2004 at Logan House Assisted Living. Thelma was born on January 2, 1918, in Smithfield, Utah, to Frank and Evaleo Tidwell. She was the third of five children, growing up in Smithfield and graduating from North Cache High School. She married Joseph C. Jacobsen on October 24, 1935 in the Salt Lake Temple and later had two children. Thelma was a beautiful lady with a contagious smile. She treated everyone like they were worth a million dollars and everyone who knew her loved her. She loved Joe more than words can say and would drop everything to be with him and loved every minute including camping, fishing, water skiing, riding motorcycles, and snowmobiles. She helped Joe build their first home in Logan, logging the timber out of the canyon. When Joe returned from the war, Thelma handed him the deed to the house which she had paid off while he was away. Thelma lived in Logan most of her married life. In 1986 she and Joe started spending winters in St. George, Utah, until 2002 when Joe?s health no longer permitted it. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. Serving faithfully in many positions and singing in the ward choir. She was married to Joe for 68 years when he passed away May 14, 2003. She is survived by two children, Douglas Teresa Jacobsen and Susan Gary Etherington, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother Alton Tidwell of Clinton, UT, and two sisters, Barbara Brown, Farmington, UT and Eunice Merrill, East Wenatchee, WA. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe and her sister Ruby Johnson. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on December 2, 2004 at the Hillcrest 2nd Ward Chapel, 875 North 1500 East, Logan with Bishop Hyrum Hall conducting. There will be a viewing prior to services from 10-11:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
