Preston ? Thelma Nessen Chatterton, 93 died Sunday evening Aug 16, 2009, at Logan Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Logan, Utah. She was born July 16, 1916 in Preston, Idaho, the daughter of Thomas and Maria McDonald Nessen. Thelma lived and attended school in Preston. When she was 16 her mother died and she moved to Franklin to live with her sister May. There she met Norman Chatterton and they were married September 23, 1933 in Bountiful, Utah. He died in 2000. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple. They lived in Franklin until 1939 when they moved to Cub River. In 1997 they moved to a new home in Preston. Thelma was active in the LDS church and many organizations including MIA, Primary, and Relief Society. She also served as drama director and sang in the choir. Thelma loved to travel and visited many places in the US and abroad.
Thelma is survived by her nine children and their spouses, Joyce and Eugene Talbot, Blackfoot, Idaho; Jerry and Janeal Chatterton, North Logan, Utah; Karen and Dennis Thomson, Pleasant Grove, Utah; Marsha and Neil Maughan, Farmington, Utah; LaDene and Sherman Stokes, Idaho Falls, Idaho; DeAnn and Bob Fellows, Preston, Idaho; Jim and Wanda Chatterton, Seattle, Washington; Carma and Marvin Hodges, Pebble Beach, California; Rhonda and Michael Parson, Cove, Utah; 43 three grandchildren; 123 great grandchildren and counting; and 20 great-great grand children and counting. She was preceded in death by her brother and four sisters and a granddaughter Kristine Talbot Olsen.
Funeral services will be held on Friday August 21, 2009 at 12:00 noon in the Mapleton Ward Chapel 5307 East Cub River Road. Friends may call on Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Preston First Ward Chapel at 213 South 2nd East and on Friday at the Mapleton Ward Chapel from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Mapleton Cemetery.
