TREMONTON ? Theda Chugg Smith, age 85, passed away on Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Bear River Care Center in Tremonton, Utah.
She was born September 10, 1920 in Providence, Utah to Ezra and Lunetta Russon Chugg. She married George Sterling Smith on October 1, 1940 in the Logan LDS Temple. They were blessed with six children; 30 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
An active member of the LDS Church, Theda served in many callings. She enjoyed working with the Youth in Mutual, Relief Society Presidency and also an officiator in the Logan Temple. Theda was first a homemaker and worked for various retail stores in Tremonton, and as a clerk for the Union Pacific Railroad. Her hobbies focused on serving her family and friends in the community by sharing her skills of sewing, quilting, cooking, performing and incidentally graciously pierced the ears of half the girls in Tremonton.
She is survived by her children: Darrell Carole Dawn Smith, Linda Lee Robinson Bill Hymas, Sandra Mark Thompson, Gary Sheri Smith, Dee Kimberlee Smith; a son-in-law, Thomas S. Johnson, two sisters, Areva White, Mada Bud Low and a brother, Lee Joycelyn Chugg. She was proceeded in death by her husband, George S. Smith, a daughter, Carol Lue Johnson, a son-in-law, Michael Paul Robinson and siblings: Grant Olive Chugg, Nile, June, and Phylis Chugg.
Theda will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her family is grateful for her life and her great example. To know her was to love her. Her family would like to thank the staff at the Bear River Care Center for all their great service and love.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Tremonton First Ward chapel, 166 N. Tremont St., Tremonton. Friends may call Sunday 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Funeral Home prior to the service. Interment will be at 3:00 p.m. at the Smithfield Cemetery.
