Thais Nielson Nelson, 85, finished her mortal journey on September 24, 2015. She was born in Millville, Utah on March 30, 1930 to Levi Kenneth and Hazel Izatt Nielson. She was the second of five girls. When she was 9 years old the family moved to Smithfield where she resided for the rest of her life. She attended Summit Elementary and graduated from North Cache. Thais met the love of her life, LaMar George Nelson, at a very young age. When LaMar returned from serving a mission, they were married on March 25, 1949 in the Logan LDS Temple. Mom raised five children and a foster Indian placement student lived with them for 10 years. She loved to sew, embroider, arrange flowers, worked with all of her children in 4-H, and was involved in the Smithfield youth baseball program, many other civic and community events, and she loved doing family history. She served in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints but her favorite one was organist and she had been playing the organ in church since she was a teenager. Mom loved music and loved to dance too. She enjoyed traveling to many different places and taking vacations with the family. Family gatherings were always a fun time. With her husband, she served in the Ohio Cleveland mission in 1993-1994. After they returned home, they served as Temple Officiators for nearly 18 years and they loved serving in the Temple together. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, LaMar; her children: Valerie Bosworth of Logan; Roger (Jean) of Trenton, Sharla (Jim) Vanderbeek of Hyrum, Lorraine Nelson of Chubbuck, Idaho, and Gordon (Jami) of Smithfield. Also her two sisters: Coreen Quinney and Vaudis Magleby of Richfield, Utah. She has 25 grandchildren and 34 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters; Maloy Parkinson and Ramona Hardman and a grandson, Neil Stewart.
