Tex L. Hoopes passed away, Wednesday morning, November 2, 2016, at his home in Logan, UT after a four year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born in Afton, Wyoming, the oldest child of Lloyd and Jean Hoopes. He married Karen Lee Hansen of Helper Utah, May 26th, 1967 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They are the parents of five children, Gary (Susanne), Scott-deceased, Travis (Liesl), Lyn (Rex) Sorensen, and Kim (Andy) Peirce. They have fifteen grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Bill, Woody, Tonya and Loreen.
He worked for Del Monte foods for 27 years in Smithfield Utah, Burley Idaho, Franklin Idaho, Mendota Illinois, and Sleepy Eye Minnesota.
Tex served an LDS mission in the Eastern Atlantic States from 1964-1966. He also served in the Air Force.
Tex and Karen served at the Bishops Storehouse, Logan Special Needs Seminary and in the Nauvoo, Illinois Mission. They also served in the Chicago Illinois, St. Paul Minnesota and Logan Temples.
He served various callings in the LDS church and loved every one of them. He loved serving the Lord and loved people.
Tex enjoyed taking walks with Karen and never missed the nightly news. He liked to tinker with things and kept himself busy. Playing games with the grandkids was something he always looked forward to.
The family thanks Huntsman Cancer Center, their staff in the Multiple Myeloma Unit, Dr. Ben Jacob and his staff and Encompass Hospice for their care.
A viewing will be held at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 N., Logan on Friday Nov. 4th, 6-8 pm. Funeral Services will be on Saturday Nov. 5th at 12:00 PM at the Logan 5th Ward church house at 502 E. 300 N. The Family will be there at 11:00. The burial will be at the Logan City Cemetery.
