Howell - Terry O. Hess passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Terry was born July 7, 1939 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Orland and Zelda Hess and was raised in Howell, Utah.
He grew up riding tractors with his Dad and running in the fields with his dogs. He graduated from Bear River High School. He received his Bachelors Degree from Utah State University and a Masters Degree from the University of Utah in Medical Technology.
He was on the first team to perfect amniocentesis and worked on the team for the artificial heart program. He worked with Dr. Van Kampen to find the cure for cancer eye in cattle and completed his Masters thesis on weight gain of cattle in feedlots of the Midwest. He went on to become the coordinator for all rural hospitals in medical technology and wrote manuals for each hospital to pass federal regulations. He also became an instructor at the University of Utah in the department of Medical Technology.
However, with all these accomplishments in medicine, he never gave up his love for Howell and the farming lifestyle. He was happiest sitting on the front lawn of the home place having a Diet Coke with his Dad and looking at the crops in the field. His joy in life came from riding his horse "Partner", coyote hunting with friend George, and singing his country songs.
Terry is survived by his four children: Dr. Randal Hess VA, Ms. Wendy Saunders Ogden, Lori Hess Portland, Candi Hess Salt Lake City; and his brother, Jack Taylor Ogden.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Orland and Zelda Hess.
