Edward Keith, better known to all as Ted Dowd finished his earthly journey on Feb. 8, 2014 at his home in Smithfield, Utah. He was born October 11, 1934 in a small mining community in Price canyon called Latuda, Utah to Joseph Henry and Lena Dowd. He is one of 6 children. He lived a long life and was loved by many. He will be greatly missed.
He married Janice Rancenberger, the first day of summer, June 21, 1957 in Smithfield, Utah while on leave from the United States Air Force. Their family soon grew to include their children Jolene, Dane, and Shelli. After his 4 year tour, they made their home in Moab where he was busy working in Uranium mines. Later they moved to Smithfield. After various jobs he found a career in the Driver License Division retiring in 1997 as a supervisor after 30 years of service. He loved to fish, hunt, horse-back ride, and just spend time at his summer home in the LaSal Mountains, where he renewed old time friends and met many new ones along the way.
Ted was preceded in death by his brother Joseph Jay Dowd, his sister, Jerri Pilling, brothers-in-law Jerry Biddulph, Val Maughan, Dan Pilling, Arnold Grundvig and sister-in-law Gloria Dowd. He is survived by his wife Janice, children Jolene David Low, Dane Tara Dowd, and Shelli Eric Larsen. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. Along with sisters: Lorriane Grundvig, Helen Mitten, and brother Michael Dowd.
Funeral services will be at 12:00 on Wednesday, February 12 at the Smithfield Stake Center, 451 South 250 East, Smithfield, Utah. Friends and family may visit prior to services from 10:00-11:30.
