Sidney Mervil Nyman

January 29, 1953 — December 25, 2023

Sidney Mervil Nyman, 70, of Wellsville passed away at his home, surrounded by family, December 25, 2023 following a short, but courageous battle with lung cancer. Sid was born January 29, 1953 in Logan, Utah, to Mervil Alfred and Grace Schenk Nyman. He grew up in North Logan where he learned the value of hard work by milking cows, hauling hay and clearing ditches on the family farm. He graduated from North Cache Middle School, Sky View High School, and Denver Auto Body School. Sid married his high school sweetheart Rosie Murray on November 21, 1974. They are the proud parents of two children, JD and Amber and have 5 grandchildren whom Sid loved with all of his heart.
Sid loved vehicles and dedicated his life to the art of automotive craftsmanship, skillfully fixing and painting cars with precision. His legacy rides on in the countless vehicles he transformed.
Sid was a true family man, he shared his love for gardening with his grandsons, passing down the green-thumb legacy. His garden was envied by all, a testament to the countless hours he poured into making it nothing short of perfect. He was a talented artist, effortlessly replicating every project Rosie found on Pinterest.
Sid was always quiet and rarely the life of the party, in fact he would often sneak out of the party before anyone could notice, to go spend time with his dogs Boomer and Bogart. Although he was not a man of many words, he did have a special connection with animals.
His love for the outdoors was undeniable. Sid was an avid hunter, accompanying his grandchildren on their hunts, patiently sharing his skills with them. Sid also loved to fish which allowed him and JD to see many beautiful places.
His life revolved around his grandchildren, he would have done anything for them. Sid was very supportive, rarely missing a softball/baseball game or wrestling match. You could always find him in the bleachers cheering them on.
Things will not be the same without his presence, and the love we feel for him is immeasurable. We are grateful for the impact he had on our lives and all the great memories that we made.
Sid is survived by his loving wife Rosie; son JD (Mindee) Nyman of Wellsville; daughter Amber (Colt) Anderson of Wellsville; five grandchildren, Randon, Eastyn, Tuckyr, Hazen and Rowdy; siblings, Vivian Nyman, West Point, UT; Carvel (Erv)(Connie) Nyman, Garden City, UT; in-laws Carolyn Cooper, Madelene (Dennis) McBride, Kris (Allen) Scott, Curtis (Michelle) Murray. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Cordell (Gus) Nyman, in-laws Dean and Allie Murray, sister-in-law Ruth Nyman, brother-in-law Boyd Cooper and nephew Brandon Cooper.
Funeral viewing will be from 10am-12pm Saturday, January 06, 2024 at Nelson Funeral Home 162 E 400 N Logan. Condolences and memories may be extended to the family online by visiting www.nelsonfuneralhome.com
