Susan Katherine Evans

October 20, 1951 — November 22, 2013

Mother, Nini, Sister, Aunt, friend, confidant and all around wonderfully AWESOME person passed away Nov 22 peacefully in her sleep in her home surround by her two bestest buddies BB cat and Maddy dog after complications from Chemo. Mom was born to Clifford Curtis Evans and Katherine Colon Evans October 20, 1951 in Blackfoot, Idaho. She went to Blackfoot High school and graduated in 1970. During High School mom was a part of "Jobs Daughters" which was a fraternal organization for young women. She was an honored queen in 1968. Mom told us all about "Jobs daughters", showed us her scrap books from her time there. She was always so very proud of her accomplishments while in Jobs Daughters. When we talked about writing her obituary, she always told me she wanted her time in Jobs Daughters mentioned. I don't know much more about it other than she wanted it mentioned. After Graduating from High school mom went to the University of Idaho in Moscow. She never graduated because she became pregnant with my Brother, Cory James Hugues and married my Dad, Chris C Hugues on December 29th, 1970. Cory James was born in 1971. In 1974 I, her Daughter, Tisha Kay Hugues, graced her with my presence yep, you're welcome mojay. Mom and Dad were divorced later. Mom then married Gary L Bird Papa in 1981 and moved to Logan Utah. Even though this marriage later ended in divorce these two remained lifelong friends. Mom and Papa lived together for many years and later in life, as friends, they were able to enjoy their grandkids together and share many more memories. Mom was so grateful for this friendship and loved Papa so very much. Papa never quit loving Mom even after her last breath. Mom had so many friends and touched so many lives. Everyone who met her loved her. I just moved her into her new apartment in October and I told her she was "banned" from "taking people under her wing", she laughed and promised she would steer clear of strangers. Needless to say within a week she had made two new friends. Surprise, surprise! Mom enjoyed life, she was a "rebel without a cause". She loved EVERYONE and had so much faith in people. It was a quality of hers that I truly admired. She overlooked people's faults and searched for their good. She was convinced that EVERYONE had something good in them. She never judged and always loved. She believed in living life and not worrying about consequences and didn't believe in "regrets". Moms "motto" was this: "When it's all said and done, you better believe I'm going to go sliding in sideways screaming WOW that was one hell of a ride". She definitely accomplished that and then some. Mom wanted to live life on her terms. She tried so hard to keep everyone else happy and always tried to hide her own pain and sorrow. She knew that someone somewhere was worse off than she was and therefore there was nothing to complain about. Through EVERYTHING Mom never complained. She never asked "why me" she never pitied herself. She was truly my hero when it came to "how to live life". Mom considered her "major" accomplishments in life to be me, my brother and her 5 grand kids. Kymbrie SUE was her very first granddaughter. Mom was overjoyed when I named her after her. After Kymbrie SUE, it was my brother's turn. He graced her with the 4 more beauties, I quit after one LOL. Derek James, Shaylee Ang, Korena Christi her "wild one", and Joshua Cory. She had a special place in her heart for each and every one of them. Whenever she got an chance she always talked about her grandbabies. She found out about a 6th granddaughter just a year ago courtesy of my brother's wild high school days LOL from that 6th granddaughter Alawna Samone Smiddy she also has a GREAT granddaughter Armani Samone Redicker. Mom shared with me that she was sad because she knew that it was too late in life to be able to "know" them but was glad that she was able to know about them before her time was up. She was so excited to be able to meet them. She was never able to meet the 6th granddaughter but she did get to meet her great granddaughter and even get a picture with her. She felt so very blessed to have been able to experience that. Mom was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer in March 2013. She underwent 3 rounds of Chemo before undergoing surgery in August. She had complications after surgery and was unable to start her second round of Chemo immediately. She was so upset about not being able to start chemo again because she was bound and determined to beat this sickness. Mom did all she needed to do to be able to begin Chemo again, she was convinced she was going to live as long as she could finish her Chemo. She started Chemo again just this past Monday. I Tisha went to see her every day this week, we visited, made plans for the holidays, shared hugs and laughs and mom just kept saying "it's just the few days after chemo, I'll be fine". Little did she know pneumonia had started to kick in and she thought it was just the side effects of chemo and ignored it. She went to bed Thursday night and went peacefully in her sleep. Nothing in life ever came "easy" for her so it was nice to see that she didn't have to "suffer" in death. Mom jumped many hurdles in life and unfortunately she knocked a few over also. I loved her and stood by her side through it all, I will miss your beautiful smile, your intoxicating laugh, your sloppy kisses, your warming hugs, your beautiful sparkling personality and most of all of your NEVER GIVE UP positive attitude. You were my Mama, my best friend and my confidant. Your tour of duty is finally complete, I got it from here. The only thing getting me through is knowing that I now have a guardian angel FOREVER, RIP Mama; you have more than earned it! Proceeded in death by her Mother and Father. She was never able to know her Dad because he passed away when she was only 2 years old. I know she is excited for that reunion.
