Steven Scott Perkes

June 16, 1958 — July 23, 2012

Once Upon A Time... Steven Scott Perkes was born to Marvin and JoAnn Perkes on June 16th, 1958. He was greeted by his older brother Gary, who was meant to be his best friend, hunting, and camping partner. They would prove their loyalty over and over again, supporting each other through good times, bad times, and play time. He was greeted by a sister; Cindy, who would be his support and champion, his shoulder to lean on, and an ear to share his struggles, hopes and fears. A great example that he always appreciated. Steve would later greet two younger sisters, Polly and Pam. Making him an exact middle child, so in true middle child fashion he proceeded to spend the next 30 plus years teasing and torturing them, proving again and again that it was perfectly fine for him to be mean, and make them cry. But nobody else better even think about it. And so the fairy tale began... Early in his life Steve began his quest for his one true love. He met and married the fair, and beautiful Sharine Steinke. Together they had a son Jesse, followed by a daughter, Cody. But true love was not to be. Not being a quitter he quickly continued his search for true love and married Cindy McBride. Steve and Cindy would add another son, Dusty, as well as another daughter, Billie. Yet again it was not meant to be... Steve then stated he would skate when *#?! froze over before he married again. And that is when it happened, that is when true love snuck up on him. Although he wasn't looking, he met Denise Muir and knew this time it was right. This time it was the kind of love in which fairy tales are made. They were married July 25th, 1986. And being that it was that true fairy tale kind of love, they later sealed it for eternity, in a beautiful rock temple, on the hill in Logan. Steve and Denise needed children to complete their story, and quickly added three beautiful daughters Dannielle, Michielle, and Sammatha. At this time Sharine was called home to her Heavenly Father, and entrusted the couple with an amazing gift- the more children the better the fairy tale. Having Jesse and Cody as part of the family was a great blessing for everyone. Because you can't have four beautiful princesses with only one courageous brother to look out for them, the couple quickly rectified this by adding one more child, a son, Randy to their family. Steve loved being surrounded by his family, and was most happy being around his five daughters, and their very protective brothers. These were some of his favorite times. Steve had a strong work ethic, he believed if it was going to be done, it should be done right the first time. He enjoyed the hard physical labor of being a hod tender, and later a brick layer. All of his sons and daughters have tended hod for their dad at one time or another. Steve thought of brick work as an art form, and could often be heard saying "Whoever layed that should be embarrassed." while driving past homes, buildings, or drive thrus. Deciding it was time for a new career path, he got a job at Schreibers Foods, which was a great blessing. He thought he loved laying brick, and continued enjoying it as a hobby, He absolutely loved his job at Schreibers. He loved the work, but he also loved the people. He had made many true and loyal friends through work, who continued to prove how special they were by sticking by Steves side, even after he was no longer able to work with them. Steves children grew fast, as children do and began moving on in search of their own fairy tales, finding a spouses, and adding 10 even more endearing princesses, as well as 3 valiant young men to the story. No matter what path they chose Steve was proud of his children, and what amazing adults they had grown into, and believed they had more courage and strength than even they knew. Steve was a bit vain, and super proud of his children, he was heard to say "If I would have known my children were going to be so good looking, I would have had 8 more". Unfortunately even fairy tales have a plot twist, and way too early in life Steve got a dragon-like illness that he fought very courageously, and with every bit of bravery he had. Showing his true character, amazing faith, and strength. Sadly on July 23rd, 2012 just two days short of their 26th wedding anniversary Steve returned to his Heavenly Father, and joined many missed loved ones. Leaving his heart broken children, siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and parent. As well as his devastated wife who kissed him, told him she loved him, and whispered to him "I'll see you in eternity" Fairy Tale Continued...
