Spenser Cole

January 26, 1993 — February 25, 2003

Spenser Cole, 10, returned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 25, 2003. She was born premature and fighting for her life on January 26, 1993 to Todd Owen Johnson Cole and LuCinda Castillo Cole in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was quite a little fighter and with only minor complications, made it through the first year. She continued with good health, and at the age of 7, she became ill and again began fighting until she passed away at Primary Children?s Medical Center. Some of Spenser?s happiest moments were when she was with her family, eating out, playing games, camping and when she was dancing and singing around the house. One of Spenser?s many great qualities was to be able to make others happy with her smile. She will always be remembered by all for her smile, honesty and the sense of humor that she did not know she had. She had a love for dancing and she danced for five years at Tueller School of Dance. She was very creative. She spent many hours painting and coloring outside of the lines. She also loved school. Math and Reading were her favorite subjects. She was unable to attend school for the past two years because of her illness, so she spent most of her time learning and reading on her own. She was one who enjoyed people and people enjoyed her. Her cousins were very important to her and she loved playing and spending time with all of them. Most of the last year of Spenser?s life was spent at Lucille Packard Children?s Hospital at Stanford University in Palo Alto, California and at Primary Children?s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She loved all those who cared for, helped and encouraged her to do her best. With her positive attitude, she accomplished many things. She is survived by her parents, LuCinda and Todd Cole. She is also survived by two sisters, Kirsten Cole and Courteney Cole with whom she had a very special relationship. She is survived by her grandparents: Valdemar and Noemi Castillo and Jolene Cole; twenty-six cousins and eighteen ?grand? cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Owen Gene Johnson and Dennis Edwin Cole. On behalf of Spenser, her family would like to thank the staff at Primary Children?s Medical Center for the love and care they had for all of us. We will always be grateful and will never forget you. She will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2003 in the Lewiston 4th Ward Chapel, 16 South Main, with Bishop Mark Bergeson conducting. Friends and family may call Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main, Smithfield and on Friday morning at the church from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to services. Interment will be in the Richmond City Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
