Smiley Waki Amano

Salt Lake City - Smiley Amano, age 80, passed away on December 9, 2002 in Logan, Utah following a long illness. She was born in Murray, Utah in 1922 and graduated from Murray High School. She married Yosh Amano and was a beautician and prominent citizen of Helper, Utah for over 50 years. She is survived by two sons, Young Amano of La Crescenta, California and Gary Amano of Logan, Utah; a sister, Mary Kawakami of American Fork, Utah; two step-brothers, Utao and Sam Waki and four step- sisters, Yomiko Kotoku, Wilma Kimura, Betty Mayeda and Kemie Oda. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Smiley Amano Memorial Scholarship, USU Music Department, Logan, Utah 84322-4015. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the Deseret Mortuary, 36 East 700 South in Salt Lake City.
