Silvestre Cruz

Tremonton - Silvestre Ramirez Cruz 85, passed away August 31, 2010 in Tremonton, Utah. He was born December 31, 1924, in Higueras N.L., Mexico to Felix and Franada Ramirez Cruz. He was the fourth of 10 children. He served in the Mexican Military prior to coming to the US. Silvestre moved to Tremonton in 1957. He married LeVona Schlickeiser October 10, 1986 in Brigham City, Utah.
Silvestre loved the outdoors, whether it was camping, hunting, fishing, or cutting wood with his family. He also enjoyed music, dancing and playing the accordion. He loved to joke with family and friends; his trademark was wiggling his ears at the moment you least expected it. He was a hard worker. Silvestre took great pride in his work with the City of Tremonton for over 27 years maintaining the cemetery, waterworks, and streets. Above of all, he loved and was proud of his family. He is survived by his wife LeVona, children; Maria Inez Cedillo Jose, Felix Cruz Connie, Susie Cruz Moreno, J. David Cruz, Sylvestre Cruz, Jr. Stepchildren: Jeannette Kavanaugh, Cindy Schlickeiser and Cary Schlickeiser Hayley. He has 25 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepson Rudy Schlickeiser and most recent granddaughter, Louisa Naya Cruz.
Services will be held Saturday September 4th, 2010 2:00 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Chapel, with Ward Taylor conducting. A viewing will be Friday 6-8 pm at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and Saturday 12:30-1:45 at Rogers and Taylor. Interment will be in Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed by all who loved him.
