Beloved Sharlene Eloise Fullmer Cardon was born on March 24, 1932 in SLC, UT to Frank Rulon and Laura Eloise Fullmer. She was the oldest of 10 children, including 3 sets of twins. She was about a year old during the depression when the family moved to Hunter on a 5 way property trade, where they had 10 acres and lived for 10 years. Later her father Frank purchased 640 acres in Lockerby, Utah, east of Monticello, where he farmed wheat each summer. When she was 12 the family moved to Monticello, Utah where she graduated from high school and received a 4 year scholarship to the University of Utah where she studied homemaking and worked at the Mayflower cafe.
She met the love of her life, Wayne Roundy Cardon at a missionary homecoming of a mutual friend. Wayne was drafted into the army during the Korean conflict and wrote to her every day. They dated on his furloughs. They were married in the Logan Temple on December 14, 1951 and made their home in Benson, Utah where he worked the family dairy farm. They shared over 68 1/2 years together before Wayne graduated in August 2020.
Sharlene was a full time homemaker and mother of 8 children: John & Debbie Cardon, Naomi (with God) & Dave Stamm, Paul & Kate Cardon, Mary Theurer, Anna & Verl McCleve, David (with God), Sam & Vicki Cardon, Matt & Lisa Cardon. She has 35 Grandchildren and 64 Great Grandchildren. She is survived by 5 siblings: Donna Blauer, Alta Budge, Afton Ellis, Lauren Butters and Que Fullmer.
She enjoyed growing beautiful flowers. Later she picked up oil painting and other hobbies. Dark chocolate and milk were staples in her diet. She was an excellent cook and seamstress and loved attending the temple, education week and other learning seminars. She has a strong testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ and faithfully served in all her church callings. She loves music and was ward choir director for many years. She learned to speak Spanish serving two missions with Wayne in the Corpus Christi TX and Fresno CA missions.
She truly loves people and was a compassionate neighbor, friend, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She peacefully graduated from this life on Thursday, November 7, meeting her sweetheart Wayne and 2 children David and Naomi; grandson Derek; great grandchildren Marielle, Clifton, Calix; siblings Clark, Carol, David and Virginia.
The family would like to express our deepest appreciation and gratitude for all the kind acts of service and caregiving that were rendered to Sharlene by so many, especially Cheryl, for her countless hours of tender care.
