Shane Michael Alder, 34, of Nibley, Utah, died Sunday, April 14, at the University of Utah Medical Center due to complications with blood clots in his brain. Shane was born April 15, 1978, in Logan, Utah, to Janet Folkman and Preston Larry Alder. He grew up in Providence, Utah, and graduated from Mountain Crest High School in 1996.
Shane married the love of his life, Melissa Gordon, of Mendon, Utah, in March 2002. He and Melissa are the proud parents of four amazing children, Christian, 15, Mischa, 12, Michael, 8, and Celia, 3.
Shane was an amazing husband, father, brother and friend. He loved and cherished Mel more than anything else in the world. He loved his children fiercely, always their defender but most importantly their advocate. Shane had a wonderful laugh that would fill a room. When he smiled, his soul radiated through his eyes and face. Shane developed a love for running and loved to talk shoes and running gear. He enjoyed running in many local races and participated in many long distance relay races with his friends and family. He was a wonderful example to his children and family of the values of hard work, integrity, dedication, perseverance and consistency.
Shane chose to be an organ donor. Even in death, Shane proved to be an example of truly giving this life all that he had.
Shane is the first sibling to pass from his family. He is survived by his mother Janet Folkman Alder; brothers and sisters Jim and Ireland Alder, Aaron and Jill Alder, ValJay and Raelyn Rigby, Robert and Kelly Alder, Ken and Marci Thompson, Jake and Amanda Steele and Preston and Jessica Otte; and the Gordon family, Tim and Gloria Gordon, Todd and Holly Gordon, Kyle and Angella McMurdie, Megan Gordon, Jodilyn Gordon and Kelley David and Nicole Hanks.
