Scott Cannon Holmgren Bear River City ? Scott Cannon Holmgren, 54, passed away February 25, 2002, of natural causes, at his home in Bear River City. He was born March 22, 1947, in Salt Lake City, the son of Lynne Stuart and Mary Merle Cannon Holmgren. He married Glori Welling, June 20, 1975, in the Logan Temple. They later divorced. Scott grew up in Bear River City and graduated from Box Elder High School. He graduated from Utah State University with a bachelor?s degree in Business Administration and went on to get his MBA at the University of Utah. He served in the National Guard. He was an insurance broker for Home Life of New York, had managed Belmont Hot Springs for 19 years, was a ski instructor for Beaver Mountain and farmed in Bear River City on the family farm. He was an entrepreneur and started many businesses, including the Red Claw and the tropical fish hatchery at Belmont Springs. His hobbies were skiing, snowboarding and golfing. He loved horses, music, telling a good joke and pulling pranks. He was a talented writer and was a member of a local writer?s club. He loved to draw and did many pieces of artwork of his children. He was a hard worker. He was an Elder in the Bear River 1st Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served a mission in Sydney, Australia, served as a Ward Clerk, in the Elder?s Quorum Presidency and taught Sunday School in the Fielding/Hampton Ford Ward where he resided for 19 years. He is survived by his mother Mary Merle Dwight Anderson, Bear River City; his children, Britany Lyn Holmgren, Fielding; Darcie Jo Kody Merritt, Murray; Harmony Glori Holmgren, Salt Lake City; Cannon Scott Holmgren, Fielding; Abbey Sky Holmgren, Fielding; two grandchildren, Hayden Kelsie Merritt and Halli Lyn Mueller ; sisters, Shauna Lyn John R. Oyler, Newport Beach, CA; Suzanne Mike G. Kessler, Sandy, UT and Shelley Robert N. Backer, Lafayette, CA. He was preceded in death by his father, Lynne Stuart Holmgren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, 2002, 11:00 a.m. at the Bear River LDS Church, 5870 North 4700 West, Bear River City, UT. Friends may call Friday, March 1st from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton and Saturday, March 2nd from 9:30 to 10:40 a.m. at the church.
