Smithfield - Scott Marion Anderson passed away on December 20, 2009 at his home after a long and valiant struggle with COPD. He was born the youngest of four children on May 21, 1929 in Logan, Utah to Hyrum and Annie Smart Anderson. He attended schools in Logan, Utah. Scott worked at B & H Chevrolet until he was drafted into the army during the Korean War. During his time in the service he was stationed in Greenland working with the Army Corp of Engineers. After an honorable discharge, he returned to B & H Chevrolet to work and when he walked in the first day back he saw the cutest pair of legs he had ever seen. Upon further investigation, he realized those legs belonged to the woman who would become the love of his life, Bonnie Ford. They were married soon after on March 21, 1953. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on May 22, 1957. Together they raised three daughters and one son. Dad always made sure that we knew he loved us. He was the best dad in the whole world. Scott had a great sense of humor and always had a joke for everyone he met. He had a great respect for people in general but especially for women. His work ethic was very strong and he had a great love for the Savior! Dad had a very unselfish heart and would do anything for anyone. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, serving faithfully in many callings. He worked many years for Ford & Gregory Construction where he was a heavy equipment operator. He loved his job and was very good at it. He also worked for Smithfield City, Parson's Construction, and he finished his career with UDOT where he worked laying asphalt and plowing snow in Logan and Sardine Canyons. He was also a trainer for the UDOT Licensing Division. He always loved spending time with Bonnie and his family and was happy that he was able to do more of it after he retired. He loved making things with his hands and he was very handy and clever and could fix anything. Scott is survived by his wife Bonnie; three daughters and one son: Janet Scott Ashcroft, Lora Guy Perkins, Everett "Tarz" Karen Anderson, and Leata Gary Jensen, all of Smithfield; 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; two brothers: Reid Pauline Anderson and Don Phyllis Anderson, both of Logan. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Melba Mortensen, his son-in-law, Scott Ashcroft and two granddaughters: Michelle Ashcroft and Jennifer Ashcroft Jensen. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday December 28, 2009 at the Smithfield 14th Ward Chapel, 451 South 250 East, Smithfield, with Bishop Robert Gunnell conducting. Viewings will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 27, 2009 at Nelson Funeral Home, 85 South Main in Smithfield and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
