Sarah Loosle Heggie

August 16, 1907 — April 28, 2008

Sarah Loosle Heggie died on April 28, 2008 of natural causes incident to age. She was born August 16, 1907 in Clarkston, Utah, the sixth child of Andrew Stewart and Mary Loosle Heggie, the last surviving child of eight children. She lived 93 years of her life in Clarkston and in her later years moved to Providence to be near family. The last sixteen months of her life, she resided at Legacy House in Logan. She attended the elementary school and two years of high school in Clarkston, graduating from high school at Brigham Young College in Logan. She completed two years of college at Utah Agricultural College, now Utah State University. Following college, Sarah attended Utah College in Salt Lake City and received her license as a nurse. She worked at the Logan LDS Hospital until she retired. Growing up as a child of hard-working farmer parents, she learned early in life to milk cows and drive them to the pasture, and to irrigate their huge vegetable and flower gardens. As an adult, she completed an 18-month mission for her church in the Eastern States Mission. Later Sarah served as a stake missionary. Her church service also included being a teacher and executive officer in the YWMIA and the Relief Society. She also served as a visiting teacher for many years. An excellent organist, Sarah's musical talents were utilized in Sunday School, during ward sacrament meetings, and at various stake meetings over the years. She completed every Clarkstonite's desire to hike up to the top of Gunsite, the highest mountain point just west of Clarkston, at least once in his or her lifetime. Only Sarah was fortunate—she rode a pony all the way up! She said you could see South as far as the Great Salt Lake, and far into the North seeing countless canyons. A faithful and dutiful daughter, Sarah helped in the final days of sickness for her mother, father, three sisters and two brothers. She always said she was fortunate to be born of goodly parents, have loving sisters, and two of the best brothers who ever lived, and 13 wonderful nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Clarkston 1st Ward chapel, 25 East 100 South, with a viewing from 10 to 11:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Clarkston City Cemetery. Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com . The family would like to thank the Legacy House and Hospice for the special care that Sarah received.
