Our loving Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, Sarah Ann Hill Birch, age 83, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2010. Ann was born March 26, 1927, to Samuel and Priscilla Hill in Ucon, Idaho. She married Rex Clark Birch in 1952. They were blessed with 8 children, 35 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren. They were later divorced. Ann worked as a nurse in Idaho Falls, Provo and Logan hospitals, at Presto Products in Lewiston then finally at Mountain States Greenhouse in Layton retiring at the age of 75. Her family was the light of her life. She often said that grandchildren were the frosting on the cake and the great grandchildren were the sprinkles. Birthday cards always came on time to children, spouses, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mom had a beautiful singing voice and shared the gospel thru music in her church callings. A neighbor once said, ?Ann is the hardest working woman I know.? She was the best handywoman around, able to fix anything, always there when you needed help. Mom taught us the value of work. She grew a large garden, canning everything from raspberries to potatoes. Mom loved fishing, hunting and riding horses and passed the love of these on to her children and grandchildren. Ann is survived by her children, Debra Jimmy Zufelt, Michele Val Anderson, Chad Jenkins son in law, Jackie Curtis Clark, Robyn Phil Bankhead, Lisa Jay Christensen, Patty Mark Bingham, Brett Birch and her brothers, Joseph, Raymond and Roy Hill. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Janel Jenkins, granddaughter, Mindy Jenkins and her siblings, Leon Hill and Ruth Williams. The family would like to thank Pat, Mindy, Jenny, Karen, Kate and Shalise with Alpine Hospice for the wonderful care given to our Mom this past month. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2010 at the Hyde Park Ward Chapel, 480 N 100 W, Hyde Park, Utah under the direction of Bishop David Gatherum. A viewing will be held on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E 400 N, Logan, Utah and prior to services at the church on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Smithfield City Cemetery.
