Samuel Ospital

Tremonton- Samuel Dell Ospital passed away December 1, 2011. He was born September 3, 1920 in Clear Creek, Utah, to Phillip Ospital and Irene Baldwin. He has a sister Janet. He married Kathleen Mary Lloyd June 5, 1943; they had two children, John and Maureen, later divorced. He married Ada Kempton August 13, 1947. Sam was a devoted husband and father.
Sam was educated in Clear Creek, his early childhood memories included having a pair of Ski's for Christmas, those along with his horse and fishing rod provided his entertainment, later hunting became a big part.
He joined the Canadian Army in March 1941 and transferred to the American Army in September 1942, honorably discharged in July 1945.
Sam returned to Clear Creek after the war becoming a sheep herder, later Hereford cattle became his passion, his herds always fetched a premium at market. In 1986 Sam and Ada went to England to see Sam's new granddaughter Sarah. During their stay, they visited Hereford to see where the bread originated. Sam is survived by his son Jon Anne Tomkins, granddaughter Sarah James, daughter Maureen John Seal, granddaughter Caroline Graham, Great granddaughter Imogen.
He was a loving stepfather to Ada's children and grandchildren.
John, Anne, Sarah and James would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mistie and all the staff at 'Our House of Tremonton' for all the care and support they have shown to Sam in his twilight years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, December 7, at the LDS chapel, 280 North 1st Street West, Malta, Idaho. A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 6, from 4-6 PM at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton, and at the church in Malta Wednesday morning from 10-10:45 prior to the funeral. Interment will be in the Clear Creek cemetery.
