Ruth Davis Manning

April 14, 1908 — December 9, 2009

Tremonton, UT – Ruth Davis Manning, 101, our amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend was taken home Wednesday, December 9, 2009 after living a long and fulfilled life. She can now run and dance enjoying a reunion with her family.
Ruth was born April 14, 1908 in Brigham City to William Thomas and Sara Phoebe Harding Davis. She was educated in Brigham City and graduated from Utah State University with her Bachelor Degree in 1930. A great accomplishment for a woman in her time. She was a home economics teacher for several years. She gave up teaching after falling in love with Hugh William Manning and getting married June 6, 1939 in Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were blessed with two children, Frederick William and Diane. They lived on a family farm in Blind Springs until 1957 and then moved to raise their family in the Tremonton community. Ruth was an active member in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and faithfully served the Lord and other members. One of her greatest legacies is the loving way she cared for others. She enjoyed making food for her family or to deliver to those in need. Her travels took her all over the country for education and fun. She maintained her positive attitude and sense of humor until the end. Her wise and giving spirit will be missed by all that knew her. Her grandchildren thank her for her unconditional love, allowing us to play, helping us develop our imagination, her inspiring example and instilling the belief that we can do anything.
Ruth is survived by children, Fred Linda Manning, Diane Dennis-deceased Green; sister, Dorothy Knudson; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband, Hugh; her parents; brothers: Lee, Grant and Daniel Davis; sisters: Sarah and Wilma Davis, Rachel Reeves and Naomi Kimber and son-in-law, Dennis Green. The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude to Collette Anderson, nurses and staff at Bear River Valley Care Center, CNS Hospice and neighbors for all their compassionate care and support for our mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 14, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home, 111 North 100 East, Tremonton. Family and friends may call from 9:00-10:30 a.m. prior to the services. Interment will be at the Tremonton Riverview Cemetery.
