Ruth Pond Lloyd

September 13, 1917 — February 20, 2006

Our dear Angel wife and mother, Ruth Pond Lloyd, left this mortal life February 20, 2006, courageously enduring to the end. Ruth was born September 13, 1917 in Lewiston, Utah to Alice and Loyal Pond. She spent her early years in Lewiston on the family farm. She graduated from the Logan Academy as a young adult. She went on to further her education at Utah State University and obtained a degree in Liberal Arts. She excelled in theatre arts and was affiliated with Kappa Delta Sorority and the Spurs Service Club. She married her sweetheart, Liberty Ray Lloyd, in Chicago, Illinois on August 5, 1941 and they were sealed in the Logan LDS Temple on April 23, 1943. Her husband and children were her life. They were blessed with seven children: Carolyn LeRoy Johnson; Catherine Kendell Hansen; Christine Ronald Brown; Liberty Ray Lloyd, Jr.; Constance Brian Mendenhall; and Alex Russell Victoria Lloyd. Their firstborn son, Jeffery Rex, died as an infant. Her posterity will continue through her 25 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold and Rex and has a surviving sister, Alice. We will remember Mother for her lifelong service and devotion to the Lord in all that she did. Although she was a quiet, gentle lady, when she set her mind to accomplish something, she was boldly determined. She held many church and civic positions and founded the Savannah Genealogical Association in Savannah, Georgia. During her time in the South, she served as the Public Communications Director for the LDS Church in Franklin, Virginia and Savannah, Georgia. She was responsible for over 250 news releases promoting her LDS faith and her strong belief in genealogy and the family. She truly took to heart the challenge ?every member a missionary?. The gospel was so dear to her heart that she would talk to everyone about it. She left us a rich legacy of kindness, compassion, and service. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2006 at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 East 400 North, Logan, Utah. Family and friends may call from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. before the services. Interment will be at the Logan City Cemetery. Condolences to the family may be extended online at www.nelsonfuneralhome.com .
