Ruth Forsberg Bowcutt, 91, passed away peacefully January 27, 2004, in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Ruth was born October 27, 1912, in Riverside, Utah to August A. and Hilda Josephine Forsberg. She attended grammar school in Riverside and graduated from Bear River High School in 1931.
She was preceded in death by her eight siblings: Oscar, Herman, Joseph, Hilda, John, George, Gustav and Clarence.
She married Alvin Artel Bowcutt, September 19, 1934, in the Logan LDS Temple. His death in 1996 marked their 62nd year of marriage. Al and Ruth had three children, Alvin Daryl, Vaughn Forsberg and Susan Marie Kempter. They have seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Al and Ruth served together in the Kentucky-Louisville Mission where they spearheaded the growth of the Tell City Branch, which had consisted of a few people meeting in a rented pool hall. By the time they left, there was a thriving congregation with its own ward house. A testimony to their energy and spirit.
In their early retirement years they lived in their cabin on Bear Lake, where they both became very active in the Garden City Ward and in many of the civic and recreational events held at the lake. It was during these years that they served as Officiators in the Logan Temple.
Ruth was a loving wife and mother whose life was devoted to her family. She fulfilled many callings in the Church, including several times in various Relief Society and Primary Presidencies. She also taught young women and men in MIA and Sunday School. She also was his right-arm during Al's calling as Bishop in the Chicago Heights Ward Chicago South Stake in the 1960's.
Ever mindful of her Swedish heritage, she kept the traditions of her parents alive in her own family by preserving Swedish traditions, cooking traditional dishes, singing Swedish songs and teaching her children all she knew.
Known for her creative and often humorous witting skills, Ruth wrote many poems, plays and skits for church and civic events, her high school 50th reunion, and for family reunions. Her latest story, entitled "Star Suzie Adell" was printed in the Christmas Edition 2003 of the Grand Court News, the retirement community where she lived for over a year.
Words alone fail to describe who she was, but all who knew her loved her and will remember her.
Funeral services were held at Rogers and Taylor Funeral Home in Tremonton, Utah on Saturday, January 31, 2004 at 2 p.m. Interment at the Riverside, Utah Cemetery.
